The festival provides amateur performers with support for artistic development, emphasizing that performance is a vital opportunity to learn and pursue excellence.
Awards
All participants receive participation certificates and written adjudications rather than competitive rankings.
Eligibility
Open to all amateur residents of the qathet Regional District.
Performance Rules & Copyright
It is the responsibility of each participant to read and comply with all rules governing the festival. Please read the syllabus for comprehensive information.- Original Scores: Participants must provide an original score or authorized copy to the adjudicator's secretary 15 minutes before their class.
- Memory: While performance from memory is encouraged, using a musical score is permitted but may affect recommendations for the Provincial Festival.
- Copyright: Photocopies are only permitted for page turns (if an original is also present) or with a letter of permission from the publisher.
- Communication: Communication with the adjudicator is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification.
Provincial Festival Recommendations
To be eligible for a recommendation to the Provincial Festival, participants must:- Enter a minimum of two solo classes in the same discipline.
- Follow all festival rules, including time limits and repertoire requirements.
- Consult with the Festival Committee if entering Speech and Dramatic Arts to ensure selections meet Provincial requirements.
